About Frontlines Press

Frontlines Press is a project of the Labor/Community Strategy Center . Our goal is to build an independent Left press to generate books in direct support of rebuilding antiracist and anti-imperialist social movements. We pay great attention to Black, Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander audiences and communities, as well as the encouragement of antiracist white traditions, and seek out working class readers—especially “the opinion leaders of the oppressed”—who love to read but cannot be reached through traditional book distribution mechanisms.

Through months of writing and editing, we are able to get books out quite fast, and bring them to frontline organizers—Dispatches from Durban in South Africa for the World Summit on Sustainable Development, and Katrina's Legacy: White Racism and Black Reconstruction in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast to New Orleans as the first anniversary of the hurricane season approaches. Along with funds and coalitional support, which our organization has also provided, books can be weapons in the battle of ideas.
